U.S. Congresswoman Yvette D. Clarke has applauded the Bengali American community’s political awareness—and their support for President Obama. At a reception hosted by the BA for Obama—Clarke also spoke of the community’s success.
Mr. Shamsul Haque, the Bangladesh Consul General, described the event as a “meet and greet event” as part of its efforts “to build bridges between the Bengali American community with the Mainstream America”.
More than 200 guests attended the dinner where Congresswomen was the chief guest. BA for Obama president Dr. Showkat Ali handed over the plaque of honour to the Congresswomen, requesting her to visit Bangladesh . The Congresswomen, who accepted the Plaque, said she would consider the request.
